I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my 10 year old grandson who is currently interested in geography. The book is excellent for kids in the 4th, 5th, 6th grades and beyond. Every page is colorful and pack with illustrations or descriptions. The book lays out the world in a logical order, starting with the earth seen from space, then narrowing it down to each continent; Europe, Asia, Africa, The Americas (north & south), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands), The Arctic, and Antarctica, as well as the countries within each continent. Each continent is highlighted and shown where that specific continent is located on the world globe. The maps are pack with illustrations showing what each region is known for (animals, customs, costumes, foods, plants, activities, landmarks, etc.) then, on the following pages the book has brief written descriptions of each picture on the map, giving a better understanding to what that particular region is about.The book is hardcover and a nice, large size (approximately 9 inches by 12 inches), has a colorful front & back cover with 136 pages inside total. Lots of good information. The cliff notes version is they located places around the world where people live the longest. They called these the blue zones. Then they went to these places and studied the people, their diets, their habits and interviewed people about why they thought people lived longer in their region. They came up with 9 things to longer life. 1. move naturally 2. have a purpose in life 3. downshift -meditate-relax 4. 80% rule - eat 80% of your food, leave 20% on your plate 5. plant slant - more veggies, less meat 6. wine at 5 - one glass a day 7. right tribe - have long time friends who have healthy habits 8. community - be involved in your community in someway 9. family first - keep them close and enjoy the relationships. I have a neighbor who is 91 and he lives alone, drives himself, does his own yard work and he takes zero medications. He amazes me. I was talking to him about things the book said and he offered his advice; He smoked until he was 40 but he quit and said everybody should quit, he quit sugar in 1993, he eats beans, usually navy beans everyday. He eats a lot of broccoli and whole grain bread. He is outside doing something in his yard everyday when its not raining. He goes to bed at around 7pm and gets up at 4-5 am. He has friends that he goes out with each week and he goes to church every week. He also has 1 can of beer a day. He says its for his kidneys. He has two big fluffy dogs and he takes good care of them. He's broke his hip, he's had lots of skin cancers removed and treated with radiation but never any continuing condition like high blood pressure or heart disease. So he agreed that the advice in the book is spot on as far as he's concerned. Very well done book with interesting and entertaining interviews and advice. It also has a lot of recipes for foods the people in the blue zones are eating. There is also advice for turning your home into a blue zone. I recommend this book.

As an 81-year old widower,"Blue Zones Solutions" confirmed my intuitive ​observations. Six years ago, my wife died. I was an exhausted couch potato barely able to leave home without help. Our USAF family had lived on three continents for over six years. I began a lifestyle of recovery and restoration of health. Today, my diet has become very similar to "Blue Zones Solutions" findings. My doctors are astonished when my complete blood, chemicals and other tests are all within the normal range. I take no medications, not even an 81 mg aspirin.

It seems the main thing the blue zone people have in common is they don't live in modern industrial society. They mostly live rural pastoral lifestyles. I would have liked to know a bit more about the lifestyle part although this book focuses mostly on diet. However I think there is only a limited amount of the lifestyle that us who do live the industrial life will EVER be able to imitate, despite the endless happy cheer-leading in the book that "you too can live in a blue zone". The diet similarities seemed much less than the lifestyle similarities. It does seem blue zones people mostly eat high carb, with the addition of a lot of food picked fresh of the trees and plants locally that day (it goes with their rural lifestyle, but again how many of us will imitate that?), and beans are a regular part of the diet.It is also true the recipes don't seem to follow the actual diets of the people as described in the book that much. I like ethnic cookbooks that try to be as authentic as possible with a few adaptations for things that aren't possible to find elsewhere, but these recipes do seem tailored to a preexisting diet philosophy, rather than what the people in the blue zones were actually eating at least as described in the book. A few of them still seem like they might be tasty though, but I really wanted more from this book than a few recipes.

This is a very good book for those looking to change their diet and incorporate healthy alternatives. Full of recipes and ideas. We're using it at least every week. Recommended.

OMG.. This book is a Treasure! This is exactly what I was looking for and it's going to help me alot with some works and handcraft that I am doing.There is so many styles and shapes of the alphabets. I will use this font book for making and transferring words on clay pieces, then carve the clay lettering / numbers. There are so many different styles within this book, I will never be able to use them all. The style is a thicker font, as it says "Outline" style. Also I did not know whether it would contain numeric fonts, IT DOES IN ABOUT 99% OF THE STYLES. I am very, very happy with this book and with this help can use for many artistic projects and sign lettering, etc.

Lisa Murnan (lisamurnan.com) has been designing web and mobile interfaces and leading UX projects for over 20 years. In 1994, she was on the team that put one of the first newspapers online, and in 1995 she was part of the first wave of corporate webmasters. Lisa has played almost every role on the user experience spectrum and has worked on all types of digital projects, as both a corporate UXer and a consultant for startups. As a long independent UX design trainer and consultant, I plan to never interview for a UX job again—a fact that gives me much joy. However, many who attend my workshops are thinking about their next job—or are looking for advice for breaking into the field. In fact, "How do I get my first UX job" is among the most frequent questions I receive—and one of the most difficult to answer. I have my personal stories and observation-based advice, but I've been looking for a more practical, comprehensive answer.With Lisa's book, I have found a better answer. Her book is comprehensive and well thought through and based on her substantial experience in training and mentoring junior designers. Her best idea: getting hired for a UX job—is a UX project itself as the same design thinking applies. Consider those in the hiring process to be your target users that you need to design a great UX for. Apply your design analysis, UX thinking, and attention to detail to the entire experience, as you would for any other project.Lisa covers all the bases, including understanding recruiters and interviewers, parsing the job postings, building your resume and portfolio, interviewing (with common UX interview questions gleamed from sources like Glassdoor--very helpful!), and designing your social media presence—and even overlooked details like writing effective cover letters. She gives both good and bad examples. This book is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to land their dream UX role. Though it focuses specifically on the job search aspect, I also found it to be quite informative about many UX processes in general (turns out you can apply the same UX thinking to your job hunt!).As a UI designer that is looking to learn more about UX, this book gave me a great overview of what I should expect to have in a successful resume and portfolio to get noticed by hiring professionals. I especially loved that most of the information was extremely practical and experience-based, and could be applied to any career search - not just UX. There was everything from the correct way to format a resume, how to bolster your social media presence, the most effective ways to share a portfolio, you name it. I consider myself to be pretty confident in my job searching abilities but I was taken by surprise at just how much I didn't know. I came away with many new and useful tips.Lisa's writing style is also very humorous and engaging. I appreciate her use of real-world examples. This book is truly crammed full of useful information for anyone looking to market their UX skills to the world. Highly recommend!
